Program Description:

The Department of Anthropology offers M.A. and Ph.D. programmes, with five concentrations: Social Systems, including inequality, ethnicity, and gender relations; Development and Social Change; Symbolic and Cognitive Anthropology, with an emphasis on systems of meaning and ideology; Medical Anthropology, with special reference to cultural aspects of health and illness; Prehistoric Archaeology, including paleotechnology, settlement studies, nutrition, and paleoecology, especially in Canada, Africa, and Asia and Latin America.
