Program Information

Degrees Offered:

MScN - NursingRN to MScN Alternate Admission

Format: Campus

Program Description:

This is an exciting and innovative option offered for the first time in Ontario. The alternate admissions process enables a registered nurse who is a graduate of a diploma or hospital program to fast-track to an MScN program after fulfilling foundational academic requirements. Potential applicants will be nurses with a diploma and strong academic potential, currently working in leadership positions. Qualified applicants would be admitted to the Faculty of Health as visiting students until they complete the alternate admission requirements of upper-level courses in nursing at the undergraduate level in preparation for graduate study. Students who successfully complete the 30-credit baccalaureate equivalency are not awarded a baccalaureate degree, but are deemed eligible for graduate studies. Applying for RN to MScN Alternate Admission To apply for this program, please complete an undergraduate application. Use York's online application since you'll be applying as a visiting student (on the application, select Option 4, and then choose “Health” as the Faculty). Make sure you meet all of the admission requirements below. The undergraduate program will be offered as a full-time option over three terms and/or as a part-time option over five terms. Continuation into the Graduate Program Upon successful completion of the 30 undergraduate credits with a minimum grade of B+, students will be eligible to continue in the MScN program.
