Program Description:

The Centre for South Asian Studies promotes the scholarly study of South Asia at the University of Toronto. It does so by inviting distinguished scholars of South Asia to a lecture series, organizing conferences, and offering a Collaborative Graduate Programówhich enables students to study the regionís ancient and modern history, evolving socio-cultural traditions, political-economic development, contemporary geo-politics, legacies of colonialism and post-colonialism, and a spectrum of related topics. Through its diverse activities, CSAS forges a vibrant intellectual community that brings to bear on South Asia critical theoretical approaches and radical perspectives drawn from a wide variety of academic disciplines.
