OISE/UT is the acronym for the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education of the University of Toronto-one of the largest and most research-intensive faculties of education in North America and the top place in Canada to study education. OISE/UT was formed in 1996 by the merger of the then free-standing OISE, an education think tank and graduate school created by William Davis in 1968, with U of T's Faculty of Education. Today the institute offers hundreds of courses and a range of certification and degree programs for aspiring and practicing teachers as well as for academics and other professionals interested in further study and career development. More than 10,000 people are enrolled in OISE/UT courses annually.
