Program Description:

The department offers programs of study leading to the Master of Arts degree in the fields of German Language and Literature and Slavic Languages and Literatures. Programs must be arranged in consultation with the department head or the Chair of the Graduate Studies Committee. The Master's Program in German Studies offers a wide variety of courses and thesis options in areas such as romanticism, modernism, or literature of the Third Reich, with particular emphasis on representations of history and society in today's Germany and Austria. The Master's Program in Slavic Studies offers a variety of courses and thesis opportunities in Ukrainian and Russian, or a combination of the two. The department emphasizes representations of history and society in today's Russia and Ukraine in literature and film.
