Program Description:

The Gender Studies program is an innovative interdisciplinary program designed for students to optimize their research, learning and teaching interests within the fields of feminism and gender studies. This program prepares students both for the workforce and for further postgraduate studies at the doctoral level. In consultation with a Women's Studies faculty advisor students are expected to take the initiative in creating a program of study that will combine a feminist methodological and theoretical approach to questions of gender, race, class, sexuality, ethnicity and nationalism with their key area(s) of concentration. The Gender Studies program emphasizes the following areas: Feminist Culture Studies, Lesbian and Gay Studies, Feminist Jurisprudence, First Nations Women, Feminist Ethics, and Feminist Perspectives in Science and Technology.
