MA - Modern Hispanic Studies
The taught MA programmes in Hispanic Studies at Kent allow you to take a full MA in Modern Hispanic Studies or to combine your interest in Hispanic Studies with the study of other European literatures on the MA in Hispanic and Comparative Literature.
The MA in Modern Hispanic Studies leads you towards a better understanding of modern Hispanic society and its culture. It consists of two parts: a literary element, taught in conjunction with the MA in Hispanic and Comparative Literature, and a cultural element which is particular to this programme. The MA in Hispanic and Comparative Literature helps you acquire a deeper conceptual awareness of the function and role of literature in Spain, and assess and evaluate it within a wider European context.
The staff who teach the core modules in Hispanic Studies and Comparative Literature are all based in the School of European Culture and Languages (SECL) and are actively engaged in research in the topics covered on the modules. We hope you enjoy studying with us and that, by the end of the programme, you feel you have developed your knowledge and critical understanding of modern Spain and Latin America. There are opportunities to continue researching in Hispanic Studies when you have completed your MA and we would be happy to discuss this possibility with you.
