Linguistics and Literature : Germanic Languages
Dip.-Linguistics and Literature : Germanic Languages
The study programme in Language and Literature: Germanic Languages offers students a general education, acquaints them with the scientific study of two Germanic languages, and trains them in the practical command of those languages. Its key objective is to enable students to acquire a thorough scientific insight into both the language system and the various manifestations of the chosen languages on the one hand, and the specific characteristics of literary texts and the historical functioning of literature in the chosen languages on the other hand. By the end of their studies, students should have developed a strong feeling for language; they should be able to apply different analytical methods critically to the study of language and texts, and to do so in a broad historical, social, cultural, and philosophical context.
