The studies of computer science engineering seek to train engineers specialized in IT. This field covers all factual knowledge, insights and skills required to design, build and operate information processing systems. It thus includes hardware and software and it rests on a partly specific formal basis that is not to be found in other engineering disciplines. The main discipline of the computer science engineer is the professional use and creation of information processing systems in a broad range of application. This training seeks breadth and depth, and the requirements are set in encyclopaedic knowledge (knowing), insight and skills (understanding and know-how).
