About the Institute of Environmental Studies: The Institute of Environmental Studies (IES) at the University of New South Wales (UNSW) was established in 1992 and has since developed a reputation for excellence in interdisciplinary research and high quality teaching. It has become one of Australia’s leading centres of environmental policy and management, and is currently playing a major role in shaping the way that Australia defines and acts on sustainability. The IES delivers Australia’s longest running and most highly regarded Masters of Environmental Management program, complemented by an innovative PhD program in Environmental Policy and Management.
