This specialization provides an advanced understanding of the practical and theoretical principles relating to design, development, construction, operation and maintenance of machines, plants and factories, including power generation, propulsion or manufacture of goods.
The program is designed for engineering graduates who want to enhance their technical, management and leadership skills. The specialization covers several courses such as refrigeration and air conditioning, computational fluid dynamics, machine condition monitoring, fracture mechanics, solar energy and automobile engine technology – with an emphasis on contemporary issues such as ecologically sustainable designs.
It also offers project management and technology management electives, which are designed to meet the needs of graduates from a wide range of engineering backgrounds. Students have wide exposure to problems and projects from various industries as well as state-of-the-art relevant software packages.
One of the largest of its kind in Australia, the School of Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering offers a comprehensive range of Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering and Technology Management courses. To provide strong programs in these areas, the school combines depth in conceptual and analytical topics, comprehensive coverage of applications and interaction with industry and several corporations worldwide.

To be eligible to start a Master of Engineering Science program you need to have a recognized four-year Bachelor degree in an appropriate area of engineering with an Honours 2/2 or equivalent or an average of 65% in performance over the final two years of that degree.
