Master of Veterinary Public Health Management, Graduate Certificate in Veterinary Public Health Management; Graduate Diploma in Veterinary Public Health Management

Format: Online

Program Description:

The Master of Veterinary Public Health Management is an award-winning distance education program that enhances the careers of busy animal health professionals. We have a 10-year track record of producing industry-ready graduates. Students typically work full time and join us from diverse locations, such as the United States, Canada, New Zealand, the UK, Hong Kong and Singapore. Developed in response to an increasing need for national confidence in the management of animal and public health issues and the ability to influence national policy, this program combines technical competence in sciences that impact biosecurity and public health with leadership and management skills. The course suits those already working in a veterinary public health field or seeking a career change. The program is offered at various levels, enabling you to progress as your professional and intellectual needs change. In the graduate certificate, you will acquire core competencies in hazards to human and animal health, veterinary epidemiology, animal health economics, animal health policy development, leadership and project management. In the graduate diploma, advanced topics in veterinary epidemiology, data analysis and leadership are supplemented by elective units in a range of areas such as food safety, surveillance, risk analysis, data management, wildlife and aquatic epidemiology and diagnostic tests. In the master’s degree, you will combine a research project with elective units of study. COURSE OUTCOMES DIFFERENCE BETWEEN VPHMgt AND VPH degrees The major difference between the VPHMgt and the VPH programs is that as a VPHMgt student, you will attend up to three short Leadership and Management residentials (three to five days) on campus at the University of Sydney, whereas VPH students focus on more technical units.

The Faculty holds and maintains continuous accreditation through the transition to a new veterinary program. Graduates of accredited programs are immediately eligible for registration with the Veterinary Practitioners Board in each state and territory in Australia. The course is also recognised internationally by the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (UK) and is accredited by the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA). Students graduating from an AVMA accredited School have their degree recognised in North America and are entitled to sit the US National Veterinary Licensing Examinations.

International Student Requirements:

International students who can provide certified proof that their previous tertiary studies were conducted entirely in English are not required to provide further proof of English proficiency. Otherwise, we require a minimum: - IELTS of 7.0 with Writing and Speaking bands of 7.0, or - TOEFL 600 plus TWE 5.0, or - Computer-based TOEFL 250 plus Essay Rating 5.0. Note: Applicants who do not meet the above English proficiency requirements but can demonstrate sufficient working knowledge required for study (e.g. those who nearly miss the cut-off criteria of English proficiency tests) can be considered for a non-award unit of study on a case by case basis. They can eventually apply for admission to a formal degree based on their performance in the unit of study.
