$433 million dollars is a lot of money which is also the amount that the University of Alabama Birmingham receives for researching health sciences. It is ranked nationally in the top 20 in total research funding for health sciences. Not only do these facts make it a perfect place to do research in health sciences but the school also provides funding to many students to pay for their education or do research in the field. Though the research funds are not limited to health sciences and students are doing excellent work in a variety of fields. In the past three years alone the university has produced eight Goldwater Scholarship winners. On top of that five students in the past three years have been awarded National Science Foundation Fellowships. Then there is the two Truman Scholarships won by University of Alabama at Birmingham students. Finally out of only 10 Jack Kent Cook Graduate Arts Fellowships was awarded to a student at the university. You should be able to see that the university is propelling students to achieve great things. The school offers diversity with nearly 1000 international students. Students from over 100 countries are currently enrolled at the university and exploring new ideas in their field. SAT verbal scores of admitted students range from 520 at the 25th percentile to 620 at the 75th percentile.
