About Us

Recognized as one of the finest institutions of higher learning in the Midwest, Drake University offers an exceptional learning environment both on campus and online. The institution was initially founded as a midsized, private university in 1881. Now, it offers the benefits and resources of a larger institution along with smaller class sizes and closer personal relationship.

U.S. News has noted Drake’s exceptional academics, value, and culture, but it’s not the only institution to take note. Organizations like Kiplinger’s Personal Finance, The Princeton Review, and The Brookings Institution are included in the long list of organizations that have ranked Drake University highly.

More than 3,000 undergraduates and 1,900 graduate students enroll in Drake’s programs. The student body is represented across 45 states and more than 42 countries. Across six colleges and schools, students choose from more than 70 majors, minors, and concentrations, as well as 20 graduate degrees.

Drake University is committed to preparing students for meaningful personal lives, professional accomplishments, and responsible global citizenship. This is accomplished by fostering collaborative learning among students, faculty, and staff and by integrating the liberal arts and sciences with professional preparation.
