Campus Medical Specialties Doctoral Programs: Basics
Campus Medical specialties doctoral programs may be offered as research (Ph.D) and clinical (First-professional) doctorate degrees. First professional degrees represent a category of qualifications in a professional subject matter that require students to have previously earned an undergraduate degree or completed specific coursework in before enrolling.[i] Holders of first-professional degrees are considered to have earned entry-level education and may take graduate study subsequently. While some of these degrees are called “Doctor”, unlike the Doctor of Philosophy, candidates do not have the same research and dissertation requirements. However, there may be a clinical component, residency, externship or supervised practicum. That said, other medical specialties doctorate degree programs may be open to individuals who have completed a masters degree or who are licensed and experienced professionals.
