Artificial Intelligence Degree Program

What is an Artificial Intelligence Degree?

There are many types of Artificial Intelligence Degrees available, but they typically share one common goal: to provide students with the knowledge and skills needed to develop and apply Artificial Intelligence technologies. An artificial intelligence computer is a computer that can do things that normally would require a thought process. This includes tasks like responding to questions and moving around.

As already stated, there are a few different types of Artificial Intelligence Degrees available. As an under graduate, you would pursue a Bachelor of Science in Artificial Intelligence. This type of degree typically takes four years to complete, and it aims to cover all the basics of the field.

There are also Ph.D. programs available in the field of Artificial Intelligence. These programs are very research-oriented, and they could take up to six years to complete.

Another type of Artificial Intelligence Degree is the Master of Science in Artificial Intelligence. This type is a bit more advanced, and it usually takes two years to complete. It covers more advanced topics, such as machine learning and natural language processing.

Machine Learning Vs Artificial Intelligence

What’s the difference between machine learning and artificial intelligence? They’re often used interchangeably, but there is a difference. Machine learning is a subset of AI that deals with the ability of machines to learn from data. This means that the machine is able to improve its performance on a task without being explicitly programmed to do so. Artificial intelligence, on the other hand, is the broader umbrella term that encompasses both machine learning and other forms of AI.

So what does this mean for you? If you’re interested in pursuing a career in AI, you may need to have skills in both machine learning and artificial intelligence. And if you’re looking to specialize in one area or the other, you may want to consider this when choosing a degree program.

Online Master’s Degree Programs in Artificial Intelligence

No matter what type of Artificial Intelligence Degree you choose, you will likely need to take some basic courses in computer science. This is because many of the technologies you may need to understand are based on computer science principles. In addition, you may also need to take courses in mathematics and statistics. These courses aim to help you understand the algorithms and data structures used in Artificial Intelligence.

If you are interested in pursuing an Artificial Intelligence Degree, there are a few things you should keep in mind. First, you should consider a program that is accredited. Second, you should look for a program that offers a balance of theory and practical experience. This way, you will be able to apply what you learn in the classroom to real-world situations. Finally, you should make sure the program you choose has a good reputation. You can check this by looking at online reviews or speaking with former students.

Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology

The Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) is an organization that accredits college degree programs in the fields of applied science, computing, engineering, and engineering technology. ABET is recognized by the US Department of Education as the national accrediting body for engineering and tech programs. However, as of early 2022 there are no AI programs accredited by this organization. When the time comes, you can always check to see if that has changed.

AI Course Work

The type of coursework you’ll take while pursuing an AI degree will depend on the program you choose. However, there are few courses that are typically required. These include:

1st course

An Introduction to AI

This course may provide an overview of AI, its history, and its practical applications. The general topics of the course may include a variety of knowledge representations and algorithms for interference, decision-making, planning, and learning.

2nd course

Software Engineering

This course typically covers the software lifecycle as well as learning program design methods. The software lifecycle may cover program design, development, testing and maintenance of final products.

3rd course

Natural Language Processing

This course may cover how to process and interpret and generate human language. Applied AI skills you may gain from this course could include the ability to design for sentiment analysis, translating between languages, and answering questions.

4th course

Applied Statistics

In this course, you may learn how to apply statistical analysis to data sets. This is typically useful for tasks like predictive modeling and making inferences from data.

5th course

AI & Ethics Courses

AI programs may offer courses that cover the ethical implications of AI technology. These courses may discuss things like data privacy, autonomous weapons, and other sensitive topics. As well as possibly look at how social and ethical aspects of technology have changed over time.

Practical Experience

Artificial Intelligence Degree programs may also offer some type of practical experience. This could come in the form of internships, research projects, or even capstone projects. Practical experience may be important as it could give you the chance to apply what you’ve learned in the classroom to a real-world setting. It could also allow you to build up your portfolio. This may be helpful when you’re looking for jobs after you have earned your degree.

AI Careers

There are different types of careers you can pursue with an Artificial Intelligence Master’s Degree. Some of these careers may require an advanced degree, however, some may also offer entry-level positions that allow a bachelor’s degree. Here are some examples of AI related careers you may be able to pursue:

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, AI related jobs such as computer & information research scientists are expected to grow much faster than average in the coming years. In fact, according to LinkedIn, the number of AI skills on LinkedIn has grown 190% from 2015 to 2017. And they’re predicted to keep growing. So if you’re looking for a career with job security and growth potential, AI could be a good option for you. With this type of degree, you may be able to work in a variety of industries, including healthcare, finance, manufacturing, and more.

Going Beyond a Degree: Artificial Intelligence Board of America (ARTiBA)

If you want to go above and beyond a degree, you could consider getting certified through the Artificial Intelligence Board of America (ARTiBA). This organization offers two different types of certification: Certified Artificial Intelligence Professional (CAIP) and Certified Artificial Intelligence Master (CAIM). These certifications may help you stand out from other job candidates as well as show employers that you have a commitment to professional development.

The CAIP certification is geared towards those who want to work in an AI-related field but don’t necessarily have a lot of experience. The CAIM certification is geared towards those who already have experience working with AI and want to further their career.

If you’re interested in getting certified, you can find out more information on the ARTiBA website.
