The field of Educational and School Counseling Educational guidance counselors are, by the very nature of their job, problem solvers. They not only work to help students get into the right college, but they also are often the first person students go to when they are facing some sort of problem. They also work with the teachers and administration to create effective testing environments, they intervene when students and teachers are not seeing eye to eye, and they act as liaisons between teachers and parents. As a result of this, they are some of the most well-connected professionals in today's educational environment, and must therefore be able to work in a relatively stressful but highly rewarding environment that demands every bit of their problem-solving resources.
