Physician Assistant (PA) programs are focused on patient care, as well as primary and specialty care in medical and surgical practices. Physician Assistant graduate students will learn to perform, under the supervision of physicians, many clinical procedures traditionally performed by a physician. They will study medical law and ethics, applied anatomy, laboratory medicine and clinical pharmacotherapeutics. Other physician assistant graduate program topics of study may include physical assessment, human physiology, internal medicine and psychiatry. Graduate students can choose from a number of specialties and can go on to careers as surgical physician assistants, emergency department physician assistants, orthopedic physician assistants, cardiac physician assistants and more.
