About the field of Evolutionary Biology: The general field of biology encompasses an extremely wide range of fields and specializations since all life can fall under this general category. Evolutionary biology looks at the changes in organisms over time and can focus on evolution at a variety of levels. Some look at evolutionary biology in terms of ecology , studying the change in organisms and their environments. Other programs focus on cellular/molecular biology and how development on that level evolves and changes. Evolutionary biology has a variety of applications and facets and could be used to develop potential cures for diseases, to understand the workings of life, and consequently to improve technology. Related fields include: cancer biology , conservation biology , developmental biology , marine biology , microbiology/immunology , neurobiology , oral biology , structural biology , anatomy , anesthesiology , biochemistry , bioengineering , bioethics , biomedical sciences , biometrics or biostatistics , chemistry , clinical laboratory sciences , epidemiology , genetics , genetic counseling , health sciences , and human_development . Evolutionary biology can also provide a good foundation for those interested in becoming medical doctors or pursuing medical research . Some programs also tend to have a business application such as those in the biotechnology or medical informatics .
