Clinical Laboratory Scientists perform the vital task of analyzing tests on various body fluids in order to facilitate the accurate diagnosis of illness or disease by doctors. Clinical Laboratory Scientists (sometimes also called Clinical Laboratory Technicians) work with a variety of high-tech equipment, including cell counters and powerful microscopes, as well as with computers. In that sense, then, Clinical Laboratory Scientists work in the medical field, but also must have an excellent understanding of the technology and technological advancements that make todayÕs high-end medicine possible. Coursework includes classes in such diverse areas as hematology, oncology, and medical diagnostic technology, as well as clinical and laboratory work.
