The field of Chemistry The field of chemistry is one of the most wide-ranging of all the sciences. The work of those employed in the field extends from the analysis of chemical processes to the fabrication of chemicals used in household products to research into the latest aspects of medicine. The graduate student in chemistry may choose the direction he or she goes in, and the number of areas on which to focus are seemingly limitless, including organic chemistry, environmental protection, industrial technology , and the pharmaceutical industry, among many others. Basic coursework includes a broad range of subjects, from chromatography to statistical analyses. Graduates may find work in any number of fields, depending upon the specific skills and techniques they hone in graduate school.
