BIOETHICS
Graduate School Programs - Master's, Ph.D.
As medicine advances and the techniques used when treating patients or developing new pharmaceutical therapies continue to grow in variety and implication, the work of bioethicists becomes ever more critical. They are the professionals who deal with and try to understand all the implications of these new techniques, and as such their work includes elements of medicine,
biology
,
philosophy
,
law
,
religion
, and
psychology
, among many others. In that sense, then, an education in bioethics is necessarily wide-ranging and complex, including courses on moral relativism, public policy and medicine, and the effects of the judicial system on patients' rights.
