Program Description:
The Master of Science in Law (MSL) degree at Woodbury College helps non-lawyers gain legal knowledge to increase their effectiveness and advance their careers. In a business and professional climate highly regulated and rich in legal dimensions, the law is so important that everyone should understand it. Woodbury's MSL degree helps professionals & managers, human resource workers, program directors, health professionals, policy makers and advocates û develop the skills to work confidently with the law and lawyers, and prevent needless litigation. The MSL also has special value for foreign attorneys and foreign business executives who wish to understand the American legal system and work with it effectively, and for paralegals seeking advanced training along with an advanced degree. The program's learning outcomes include the skills to find and interpret the law affecting business activities, identify and handle situations with legal implications, and keep problems from escalating to the point of needing of legal counsel. Areas of study include legal language and analysis, contracts, information privacy, litigation, constitutional issues, regulatory law, liability, and alternative dispute resolution.
