Program Information

Degree Offered

M.S. in Nursing

Program Description:

The M.S. in Nursing prepares students to function as advanced clinical practice nurses (clinical specialists in community health nursing and/or adult nurse practitioners), educators, or administrators in community-based settings, including home health care. Through coursework and clinical practice, the individual develops expertise in community-based nursing, leadership, and research. There are three tracks in the M.S.N. program- Education (36 credits), Administration (36 credits), and Advanced Practice (40 credits). The program is accredited through 2015 by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE).
The graduate nursing department also offers two School Nurse Certification programs- Non-Instructional Track and Instructional Track (which includes a Teacher of Health endorsement). The program accommodates the needs of students who pursue a graduate education while balancing other roles in their lives by offering courses in the evenings and during the summer. Students may attend the program full-time, or pursue the degree on a part-time basis.
