Program Description:
The Doctor of Design (DDes) bridges education, research, and practice within a philosophical and pedagogical framework of interdisciplinary inquiry and critical synthesis. Intended for persons who are well versed and professionally advanced in the design professions, the DDes offers three areas of concentration that fulfill specific needs in the design disciplines while building upon faculty expertise. The curriculum provides students with a solid grounding in design research and theory while allowing them to pursue a concentration that will lead to specialized and original research or scholarship. Such a curriculum framework promotes stimulating intellectual discourse among individuals with various professional backgrounds, research interests, and philosophies.
