Program Description:

The Department of Occupational Therapy in the School of Allied Health Professions offers a Master of Science in Occupational Therapy. The program is a professional degree program for students who wish to become occupational therapists. This program may be completed in eight consecutive terms. Applications will be accepted from students who have completed at least three years (90 semester credits) of bachelor+s degree course work. The professional master+s degree program includes academic courses, research activities, and a minimum of 24 weeks of full-time fieldwork. The program is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education.

The Post-Professional Master of Science in Occupational Therapy combines distance education and on-campus instructional methodologies. It is designed to appeal to working practitioners who are adult learners. Interested individuals should be highly motivated, with a clear interest in developing research ability and providing theory and evidence based practice. Qualified applicants enter with a BS in occupational therapy and will take approximately 2 courses a semester to complete the program within 3 to 4 years while working.

The Occupational Therapy Doctorate (OTD) degree is a professional, rather than a research, doctorate in occupational therapy. It culminates in an individual Capstone Leadership Project in lieu of a thesis or a dissertation. Throughout the process of proposing, implementing, evaluating, and disseminating the Capstone Leadership Project students work closely with our faculty, receiving mentoring and guidance to make each project meaningful and successful.
