Program Description:
The Nanoscience and Nanotechnology program offers a Doctor of Philosophy degrees. This program provides opportunities for concentrated study in chemistry, physics, or engineering. A plan of study is worked out for each student to ensure a sound basis for research. In keeping with the university’s commitment as an urban institution, the department also offers part-time programs leading to this degree.
The NaS-NaT Ph.D. program will offer a research-intensive degree with an emphasis on fundamental science and applications of nano-scale materials. Upon matriculation into the program, the core-curriculum will be multidisciplinary to introduce students to topics derived from various disciplines. The Ph.D. degree will require a 18 credits in course requirements as specified below. The required courses are designed to provide the students with a broad overview of the entire arena of nanotechnology, a solid foundation in selected areas of nanoscience, and specialized knowledge represented by individualized research expertise.
