Program Description:

The M.D./Ph.D. program seeks to prepare physician-scientists for careers that encompass aspects of health care ranging from the discipline of basic investigation at the bench to the nuances of patient care at the bedside. The program actually begins prior to the first year of medical school as the students arrive on campus for orientation to MCV's laboratories and MCV's clinical facilities. Students have the opportunity to work in one or more laboratories and familiarize themselves with faculty and their investigations. The program provides financial support during this period.
