Program Description:

The Department of Microbiology and Immunology offers a comprehensive program of study leading to the degree of Doctor of Philosophy in Microbiology and Immunology. For students who also wish to obtain a Doctor of Medicine degree, a combined program of study leading to the M.Ed. and Ph.D. degrees is available through the Medical Scientist Training Program at Vanderbilt. The graduate program is designed to provide each student with an understanding of a particular subdivision of the discipline, such as microbial cell biology and regulation of the immune system.
