Program Information

Degree Offered

M.A.L.S.; JD/MALS

Format: Campus

Program Description:

The MALS Theology and Theology & Ministry programs--which are most easily completed through a combination of evening and day study--are made up of core requirements in liberal studies, the concentration, and electives. Both programs reflect Valparaiso University's longstanding commitment to promoting the highest standards of personal and professional behavior, not just among students, but within the community, church, and larger society.

Students may choose the general 33-credit Theology concentration which requires 15 credits of coursework in the concentration. Or they may choose the more rigorous and professionally oriented 39-credit Theology & Ministry program, designed for those seeking to enlarge their theoretical understanding of theology as well as develop practical skills in ministry. Professional church workers and lay volunteers in particular may benefit from this latter program.

Eligibility Requirements:

Valparaiso University admits students of any race, color, national and ethnic origin, age, gender, disability, sexual orientation or (as qualified herein) religion, to all the rights, privileges, programs, and activities, generally accorded or made available to students at the school. It does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national and ethnic origin, age, gender, disability, sexual orientation or (as qualified herein) religion in administration of its educational policies, admissions policies, scholarship and loan programs, career services and placement, and athletic and other school-administered programs. Valparaiso University is an institution committed to its Lutheran traditions. The University reserves the right to promote the teachings of the church and to exercise preferences in admissions in favor of Lutherans.
