Program Information

Degree Offered

M.S. Information Technology

Format: Campus

Program Description:

The MS in Information Technology program is intended to prepare students having undergraduate background in computer science, engineering, information technology, or related fields with the knowledge, skills, and perspective for successful careers in the field of Information Technology.

The curricular framework for this 37-credit program (shown below) has been drawn from two primary sources: other master’s level curricula (including IIT’s) and the SIGITE/ACM document. The program as designed involves breadth: students are required to take coursework in 5 core competency areas. It also permits some depth, allowing students to explore specific areas of interest or professional competency in greater detail.

In addition to Introduction to Information Technology, students take one course from each of the 5 core competency areas, and at least two courses from the additional competencies. Students also complete a 100 hour internship and take one course in Social and Professional Issues.

Eligibility Requirements:

Valparaiso University admits students of any race, color, national and ethnic origin, age, gender, disability, sexual orientation or (as qualified herein) religion, to all the rights, privileges, programs, and activities, generally accorded or made available to students at the school. It does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national and ethnic origin, age, gender, disability, sexual orientation or (as qualified herein) religion in administration of its educational policies, admissions policies, scholarship and loan programs, career services and placement, and athletic and other school-administered programs. Valparaiso University is an institution committed to its Lutheran traditions.
