Program Description:
The Valdosta State University Marriage and Family Therapy (MFT) program prepares clinicians to provide therapeutic services to individuals, couples, families, and groups. The program is committed to nurturing the development of highly competent clinicians working from a systemic/contextual perspective. Therapists are taught to help in ways that emphasize the ecological contexts, interpersonal relationships, and unique meaning systems held by each client. This relational, systemic perspective is underpinned by the belief that careful attention to the many contexts that shape and give meaning to each client's experience is imperative to excellent therapeutic practice.
