M.S.-Manufacturing Engineering
Program Description:
The M.S. degree in Manufacturing Engineering serves students across the region and beyond. Our fully-online program has been designed in response to regional needs for a graduate program to provide educational incentives for recruitment and retention of engineers. The program will accommodate the work requirements of these full-time professionals, being presented entirely online.
Time to Complete the Program
Most students complete the program in about three years as they are working full time while taking classes part time. Two to four years is the normal range of time to complete the program.
Computer Requirements for Students
The program is presented through online courses and lectures are provided by streaming video or prerecording. A few classes are synchronous with all students online simultaneously via software such as EVO, Vyew, or Mikogo. Access to a dedicated computer by each student is necessary. In addition, a high-speed Internet connection is required for the streaming video. A few classes use specialized software such as Minitab, Arena, Solidworks or others. Software is not provided, students are required to obtain or have access to educational versions of the software used in the class.
Accreditation:
The Graduate School at UW-Stout is fully accredited by the North Central Association of Colleges and Secondary Schools (NCA) to offer programs at the master's and education specialist levels.

International Student Requirements:
Admission requirements include: (1) Admission to a graduate degree program and the Graduate School; (2) English proficiency TOEFL score of at least 173 computer-based and 500 paper-based or 213 computer-based, 550 paper-based depending on which program is chosen, and 61 Internet-based. Test scores should be sent directly to UW-Stout (school code #1740); (3) Official copies of all post-secondary transcripts (translated into English), including proof of baccalaureate and/or highest earned degree; (4) Undergraduate GPA of at least 2.75 on a 4.0 scale; (5) specific program requirements. Contact program directors for information; (6) Documented evidence of sufficient financial resources to complete a degree program; (7) the enclosed application form along with a non-refundable application fee payable to UW-Stout in U.S. funds.
