Program Description:

The Education program prepares individuals to work as professional teachers, or to enhance the teaching skills they already have. Coursework focuses on the learner, teacher behavior, teaching-learning processes, research and evaluation. The program is open to professionals who provide instruction in any discipline or work with learners at any age level, or to individuals seeking initial teacher certification in selected areas. The open concentration provides flexibility for students to choose coursework which promotes their professional development goals. Online delivery of the program is available for the Professional Development concentration.

International Student Requirements:

Admission to a graduate degree program requires approval by both the Graduate School and the department sponsoring the program. International students must have: English proficiency TOEFL score of at least 173 computer-based and 500 paper-based or 213 computer-based, 550 paper-based depending on which program is chosen, and 61 Internet-based. Test scores should be sent directly to UW-Stout (school code #1740). Official copies of all post-secondary transcripts (translated into English), including proof of baccalaureate and/or highest earned degree. An undergraduate grade point average of at least 2.75 on a 4.0 scale and specific program requirements (contact program directors for information). Lastly, documented evidence of sufficient financial resources and assurance that the additional funds necessary to meet all expenses for the time it takes to complete a degree program will also be available.
