Program Description:
The MFA Dance program maintains a high caliber of instruction and continued creative and practical training for working professionals in the fields of dance choreography, performance and education. Dance faculty members have performed with internationally renowned dance companies such as the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, Bill T. Jones and Arnie Zane Dance Company, Ballet du Grand Theatre de Geneve and Jennifier Muller/The Works. The Dance Department is also home to Ko-thi, a nationally recognized African Dance company, and Ferne Caulker-Bronson, the companyÆs founder and Artistic Director, is a Professor of Dance. Our students represent a cross-section of talented contemporary dance choreographers from New York City, San Francisco, Milwaukee and the Midwest region. One of the departmentÆs primary goals is to enrich the graduate student artistÆs choreographic craft as well as prepare them for full time faculty positions in universities or secondary education settings.
