Program Description:

The purpose of the Medical Scientist Training Program at the University of Wisconsin-Madison is to prepare students for careers in academic medicine and biomedical research. The program maintains high standards of scholarship. Students in this program receive medical and research training equivalent to that of all other graduates of the Medical School and Graduate School at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Because students in the program receive thorough training in both medicine and research, participants should plan on spending approximately eight years in training. During the period of study, students are financially supported with a stipend and tuition remission obtained either from the MSTP or research training grants.
