Program Description:

The Department of Laboratory Medicine includes divisions of clinical chemistry, hematology, microbiology, coagulation, immunology, genetics, virology, and medical informatics. In addition to courses for medical students, the department offers Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology and Master ofScience degree programs. The department also provides residency training in clinical pathology(laboratory medicine) for graduate physicians in cooperation with the Department of Pathology. Personswho complete the program are eligible for certification by the American Board of Pathology. Postdoctoral training in several subspecialty areas of laboratory medicine is available as well.
