Program Description:

The Department of Earth sciences acknowledges the fundamental importance of the Earth's physical environment and its resources - landscapes, rocks, sediments, soils, water, oceans and climate and this philosophy is maintained as a central and integrating theme for both teaching and reearch in the department. To this end a major objective of the Department is to provide graduates with range of educational and vocational skills of international standing in Earth sciences which will permit them access to a broad range of professional opportunities, both within New Zealand and overseas.
