Program Description:
Biomedical engineering deals with the interface between technology, biology, and medicine, utilizing engineering to solve problems in the life sciences and medicine. Students from a variety of undergraduate fields enter this program. Master of Engineering degree students develop competence in a field of direct application of engineering to the health-care industry. Instrumentation, computer applications, and image processing are the chief areas of such specialization. Students planning careers in research, advanced development and design, or teaching usually pursue Ph.D. or M.S. degrees that require a thesis based on an independent research project. In the Ph.D. program, further advanced courses are followed by dissertation research in molecular and cellular engineering, imaging, bioelectricity, biotransport, biomechanics, or orthopedic engineering.

For students whose first language is not English, ONE of the following: TOEFL scores of 250 computer-based/600 paper-based, IELTS scores of 7.0 or above, iBT scores of 90 to 100. (Note: TOEFL/IELTS scores remain valid for 2 years.)
