Program Description:
Established in 1960, the University of Utah's Middle East Center is now one of the major resources in the US for study of the Middle East. The Center coordinates a program of study which includes instruction in the major languages (Arabic, Hebrew, Persian, Turkish) of the area, advanced training in linguistics and literature, and area studies dealing with the culture, politics, history, economics, social institutions, religion, and philosophy of the Middle East. The Center sponsors an ambitious lecture series each academic year, providing students with an opportunity to interact with experts on the Middle East from all over the world.
