Program Description:

The doctorate in International Studies is the flagship program of the School of International Studies. It brings together research departments (Economics, Humanities, Legal Studies, Sociology and Social Research) to construct an interdisciplinary research degree.
Starting from 24 April 2012, the School of International Studies is accepting applications for admission to its doctoral program in International Studies. The doctorate is taught entirely in English and is characterized by a multidisciplinary approach. During the first year, students take courses in politics, law, economics, as well as research methods and academic writing, before focusing exclusively on their thesis research.
Applicants should submit a short research proposal (max. 2500 words) in one of the areas covered by the program. Preference will be given to projects in the following areas: globalization and integration processes, international economic politics, economic and monetary integration, evolution of the international monetary system, international trade and economic development, global economic imbalances; international law, international criminal law and law of international institutions; European Union law, comparative public, private and criminal law, international and EU labour law; human and minority rights; transnational, comparative, international and global criminology; international politics; peace building and conflict resolution; strategic studies and international security.

Eligibility Requirements:

The programme is conducted entirely in English and an excellent working knowledge of that language, including a proven writing ability, is an indispensable requirement for admission. Foreign students are required to obtain a working knowledge of the Italian language.
