Program Description:
The Department of Creative Writing at the University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP) offers a 48-hour bilingual online Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing program. The goal of this unique bilingual program is to prepare writers for the publishing marketplace and for teaching and editing careers, both in the United States and Latin America.
The degree plan consists of 42 hours of coursework (14 courses) followed by 6 hours of thesis during which the student completes a culminating project. Students in the program, the only one of its kind in the U.S., are trained at a professional level in the reading and writing of the genres of fiction, poetry, play writing, screen writing, essay, and literary translation.

Eligibility Requirements:
Apply for the Online MFA through the University of Texas at El Paso's graduate school. Minimum requirements for admission include:
•A Bachelor’s degree or Licenciatura in any field of study
•A writing sample: 8-10 poems or 20 pages of fiction, play, screenplay, or essay
•An official transcript of undergraduate studies
•Three letters of recommendation
•PLEASE SPECIFY that you are applying for the online MFA program
•All students must fill out a graduate school application, which is sent directly to the Graduate School, and must pay an application fee.
