Degree Offered

M.S.- Pharmacology and Toxicology, Ph.D.- Pharmacology and Toxicology

Format: Campus

Program Description:

Masters Program in Pharmacology & Toxicology. The Graduate Program in Pharmacology and Toxicology recognizes a need for highly motivated, well-trained individuals in the biomedical sciences who do not wish to function at the level of the independent investigator. This need is derived from the recent nation-wide expansion of the biomedical research and pharmaceutical enterprise. The MS program will develop scientifically literate leaders for the biosciences industry. MS recipients will receive rigorous scientific training of the type usually associated with traditional PhD programs over a period similar in length to that required for the MBA, but shorter in duration than a typical five-year PhD program. It is anticipated that most of our trainees will participate in research, quality assurance, process development or manufacturing aspects of this industry. However, we also believe this training will provide students with sufficient background in the biosciences for eventual industrial positions in administration, finance, human resources, information science, law, logistics, marketing, planning, public relations, or sales. A secondary purpose of this training program is to allow students with a potentially inadequate background and/or reluctance to commit to a PhD program, the opportunity to explore graduate training in a time-limited program that would provide relevant job-related experience.
