Program Description:

The mission of the School of Nursing is to offer educational opportunities that prepare professional nurses to address multiple complex human needs, compete in the workforce through life-long learning, and improve the quality of life in a bi-national and multi-cultural community along the United States-Mexico border region. The curriculum of the Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) prepares professional nurses for advanced leadership through enhanced practice, research, and role expansion. Enhancement of practice occurs through expansion, refinement, and application of knowledge and theory. Research skills are enhanced through opportunities to carry out supervised evidence-based practice projects. Role expansion occurs through advanced practice, education, and management functions related to health care delivery and increased professional responsibilities to society. Graduates are eligible for national certification in specialties that offer an examination.Students enrolling in the Master of Science in Nursing program may select from the following majors:

1. Nurse Practitioner with concentrations (NP)
2. Nurse Clinician Specialist with Concentration in Education (NCE)
3. Nursing Systems Management (NSM)
4. RN-MSN Option
