Program Description:

The program in linguistics at The University of Texas at Arlington provides comprehensive training in methods of linguistic analysis, as informed by current linguistic theory and data from a variety of languages. Students receive instruction in the analysis of sound systems (phonetics and phonology) and grammar (morphology and syntax); in addition, the program has strengths in field linguistics, discourse analysis, sociolinguistics, literacy, translation and teaching English to speakers of other languages (TESOL).
