Program Description:
Our Mission: To promote an understanding of the science of nutrition for the enrichment of the physiological and social well-being of individuals, families, and communities, primarily through research and graduateeducation.Students choose a research specialization in one of three broad areas (experimental nutritional biochemistry and metabolism, public health nutritional sciences, or sociocultural nutrition). Students in all three areas are provided with a common core of course work in nutritional sciences, physiology, biochemistry, behavioral sciences, and statistics to address the competencies expected of all graduate students in Nutrition. Research opportunities range from the nutritional regulation of gene expression and cell signal transduction to applications of nutritional principles by people in various physiological states of nutrition in populations. The department also offersa USPHS- supported graduate training program in Public Health Nutrition that focuses on maternal and child health.
