Program Information
Degree Offered
Master of Education in Postsecondary Administration and Student Affairs (PASA)
Program Description:
The M.E. PASA program prepares educators to work in a variety of capacities within two-year, four-year and professional postsecondary institutions. Successful graduates will demonstrate improved communication skills; comprehensive strategies for identifying and responding to evolving student needs and campus issues; and a greater appreciation for the diversity of college student needs, abilities and issues– and for the need for a diversity of perspectives and voices in the creation of programs to serve those students.
The PASA program offers a balance between current theory, development of a critical capacity for understanding campus issues, and a facility for applying research findings to improve practice on campus. Students will have the opportunity to chose concentration electives that will contribute to developing an area of proficiency such as Academic Advising, Athletic Administration, or Student Affairs.
• The Academic Advising area is designed to prepare graduates to be college advising professionals. Graduates will be key players in the fields such as academic advisement and career counseling in select two- and four-year colleges and universities.
• The Athletic Administration area is designed to prepare professionals for careers as athletic administrators, and leaders in postsecondary athletics programs with a solid understanding of the relationship between intercollegiate athletics and higher education. Graduates will be key players in fields such as athletic administration, student athletic academic services, compliance, and other areas of the intercollegiate sports industry.
• The Student Affairs area will prepare professionals as entry and mid-level professionals. Graduates will be key players in student programming, admissions, Greek and residential education, judicial affairs, disability services, and other areas of student affairs at two- and four-year institutions.
