Program Description:

The graduate program in political science has developed special strengths in five areas: (1) American politics and policy processes--the presidency, Congress, Supreme Court, parties, ethnic politics, political behavior, mass media, campaign finance and ideologies; (2) comparative politics--Western Europe, Eastern Europe, the Soviet Union, the People's Republic of China,Japan, Korea, Africa, the Middle East and Latin America; (3) political theory--classical and modern Western and East Asian, Middle Eastern, American, feminism, critical theory, the politics of culture; (4) public law and public policy--constitutional law, judicial processes; comparative legal systems, international human rights, cultural diversity, health policy, disability policy, and environmental policy; and (5) international politics--transnational studies and international issues with linkages to domestic politics and human rights.
