Program Description:
The Ph.D. in Neuroscience at USC is highly interdisciplinary and draws faculty from biological sciences, computer science, linguistics, psychology, biomedical engineering, gerontology, medicine and pharmacy. More than 70 USC Neuroscience faculty conduct externally funded research programs in areas ranging from the molecules that determine neuronal function to the principles of human cognition and emotion. The program features breadth of interest combined with a personal program of study, and provides intensive research participation with faculty from many research areas. Training is given in one of five major areas: Behavioral, Systems & Cognitive Neuroscience; Cellular and Molecular Neuroscience; Development, Plasticity & Repair; Computational Neuroscience & Neural Engineering; Aging, Neurobiology of Disease, & Translational Research.
Intensive research experience is combined with a varied curriculum, weekly seminars, an annual retreat, and an extremely active neuroscience graduate student organization. The USC Neuroscience Graduate Program provides an inter-disciplinary and supportive training experience designed to prepare students for a variety of successful careers.
