Program Description:

The Department of Anthropology, in cooperation with the School of Cinema-Television, offers a graduate program leading to the Master of Arts degree in Visual Anthropology. Based on supervised field work in social anthropology, the program's goal is to give students competence in the production of scholarly and professional ethnographic films.The doctoral program emphasizes ethnography as the discovery procedure for anthropological investigations and encourages doctoral candidates to place ethnographic film in the critical perspective of social anthropology.
